Looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? Want to work on one of the most unique production setups in the UK?
Join Holcim UK as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at our one-of-a-kind Ashington site, home to a rare dry grinder system found nowhere else in the country. This is your chance to be part of something special, maintaining and improving high-performance equipment in a site that plays a vital role in our national operations.
You’ll be at the heart of our plant’s performance—keeping machines running, solving problems before they happen, and helping shape the future of sustainable construction.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of automated production equipment, including hydraulic presses, conveyors, grinding machines, and packaging systems.
Use root cause analysis to investigate and resolve faults, boosting plant reliability and reducing downtime.
Work from electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams to diagnose and repair faults effectively.
Support and deliver continuous improvement projects that optimise site performance.
Perform routine electrical safety inspections and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
Work closely with other engineers, maintenance teams, and the site leadership to support safe and efficient operations.
Who You Are
A time-served, electrically biased engineer with a Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
Confident working with automated and mechanical systems, and able to read technical drawings across disciplines.
Proactive, collaborative, and safety-conscious—you take pride in doing the job right first time.
Excellent communicator and team player with a problem-solving mindset.
Familiar with electrical safety standards, and keen to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Even Better If You Have…
Knowledge of PLC systems, specifically Allen Bradley or Siemens (though we’re happy to train the right person).
18th Edition electrical certification.
An HNC in Electrical Engineering or similar advanced qualifications.
