The Opportunity

Looking for a hands-on, rewarding role in a unique environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a General Operative at Holcim’s Portsmouth Wharf – where no two days are the same.

Working at a wharf offers a rare and unique experience, combining the energy of a busy operational site with the satisfaction of working outdoors by the water. This is your chance to be part of a global organisation with a local team spirit, focused on safety, innovation, and development.

Shift Pattern:

You’ll work a Monday to Friday schedule, alternating between two rotating shifts:

• Week 1: 06:45 – 16:15 (5 days)

• Week 2: 10:00 – 21:45 (4 days)

What You'll Be Doing:

As a key member of the site operations team, you’ll:

• Operate mobile and fixed plant equipment safely and efficiently (including loading shovels and grab cranes – full training provided).

• Support in batching operations and product dispatch, maintaining high quality standards.

• Be involved in regular plant cleaning, safety checks, equipment maintenance, and inspections.

• Play an active role in maintaining a clean, safe and hazard-free working environment.

• Respond to breakdowns and coordinate with the maintenance team.

• Keep accurate records of production data and plant operations.

• Deliver excellent service to our customers and support your teammates.
