The Opportunity
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Block Plant Manager to join our team at our plant in Devizes. This role is a fast-paced, dynamic and extremely varied role. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about their work and is looking for employment with a company who, in return for their commitment and hard-work, genuinely cares about their safety, health, wellbeing, job satisfaction and career development. The role is Mon to Fri from 6AM till 4PM with occasional saturdays.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations and Production Management
Direct Production: Plan, schedule, and direct the day-to-day manufacturing operations
to maximize output, minimise costs, and meet customer demand and delivery schedules.
Resource Allocation: Effectively manage and optimize the use of all plant resources,
including personnel, equipment, raw materials (cement, aggregates, water, admixtures),
and utilities.
Inventory Control: Oversee the inventory of raw materials, parts, molds, and finished
products, coordinating with purchasing and sales to prevent shortages and manage
stock.
2. Equipment and Maintenance
Maintenance Oversight: Facilitate and direct the maintenance program for all plant
machinery, including block machines, mixers, batching systems, curing chambers, fork
trucks, and mobile equipment.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Troubleshooting: Develop and implement a robust PM schedule to minimize equipment downtime and maximize machinery utilisation.
3. Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)
Safety Compliance: Develop, implement, and strictly enforce all company and
governmental Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) regulations (e.g., OSHA),
promoting a strong safety culture among all personnel.
Who you are
- Experience working within the construction materials industry is highly desirable
- Excellent health and Safety knowledge.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a yard, plant, or construction
environment. - Quality checks and stock control experience is desirable.
- Strong understanding of site safety, manual handling, and plant operation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Telehandler/Counterbalance experience would be highly preferable.
- Physically fit, capable of manual labour, including lifting and carrying.
