The Opportunity
Holcim UK is opening an exciting new chapter with our brand-new Tilbury Cement Grinding Station, and we’re looking for Shift Managers to help lead the way. This is a unique chance to play a key role at one of our flagship new sites, where you’ll be at the heart of driving safe, efficient, and innovative operations.
You’ll be leading daily process operations, supporting Control Room Operators(CRO), and ensuring smooth plant performance across grinding, material handling, and dispatch. It’s a fast-paced environment where safety, efficiency, and teamwork come first, and where your leadership will directly shape success. You’ll be part of a 24/7 operation working on a 12 hour rotating shift between days and nights.
What You’ll Be Doing
Overseeing and coordinating plant operations from the Central Control Room to ensure stability and performance.
Monitoring grinding systems, material handling, weighbridges, and auxiliary equipment for optimum output.
Driving KPIs such as energy efficiency, throughput, alternative fuel usage, and quality compliance.
Acting as the first point of contact for CROs, providing troubleshooting support and leadership.
Supervising contractors on-site, ensuring safety protocols and operational standards are upheld.
Leading and coaching CROs, supporting training, development, and performance reviews.
Collaborating with production, maintenance, and process teams to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
Championing continuous improvement and safety-first initiatives, driving Holcim’s sustainability and operational goals.
Who You Are
You’re a proven leader with strong operational expertise and a focus on safety and performance. You thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy working with people and processes to deliver results.
Experience: Relevant experience with cement, aggregates, power generation, or heavy industry (preferably as a Control Room Operator or similar).
Leadership: Skilled at leading and developing operational teams, with proven supervisory experience.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant automation, grinding, and material handling.
Safety Focus: Strong awareness and knowledge of HSE standards.
Problem-Solving: Confident in analysing data, identifying process deviations, and implementing corrective actions.
Desirable: Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training.
We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
