We’re looking for a Technical Supervisor (Asphalt & Aggregates) to join our team at Bardon Hill, home to one of Holcim’s three UK super quarries. This role offers the chance to lead and shape the quality and performance of our asphalt and aggregate operations, while managing a small but impactful technical team at our dedicated Technical Centre.
If you’re passionate about quality, innovation, and technical excellence, and thrive on solving problems and supporting both customers and colleagues, this is your chance to make a big impact in a high-profile role.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead and Support the Team – Supervise, coach, and develop your technical team to deliver exceptional results and maintain a safe, healthy working environment.
Champion Quality – Monitor the output of asphalt and aggregate products to ensure compliance with customer requirements, national standards, and European regulations.
Optimise Mixes – Plan, design, and maintain cost-efficient and resource-smart asphalt and aggregate mix recipes, including effective utilisation of RAP and binder.
Technical Expertise – Be the go-to contact for technical queries across Asphalt, Aggregates, Commercial, and Operational departments, delivering added-value engineering solutions.
Drive Continuous Improvement – Use trend analysis and statistical tools to spot opportunities, reduce remedial costs, and improve product performance year on year.
Customer Focus – Handle technical contract reviews, complaint investigations, and customer queries promptly and professionally.
Collaboration – Work closely with commercial and operational managers to ensure joined-up working and consistency in product design and performance.
Compliance and Reporting – Maintain Quality Plans, ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IMS standards, and provide clear, accurate, and timely reporting.
What You’ll Bring
Strong technical knowledge of asphalt and aggregate production and testing.
Proven experience in supervising, training, and coaching technical staff.
A proactive mindset with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Knowledge of relevant standards (ISO, EN, SHW) and compliance frameworks.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to colleagues, managers, and customers.
A strong safety-first attitude, with experience embedding a positive safety culture.
We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
