The Opportunity
Are you ready to pave the way to a rewarding career with a global leader? Holcim is looking for a skilled and motivated Surfacing Operative to join our dynamic team in the Kent area. This permanent, fully on-site role offers the exciting chance to work on diverse projects, ranging from live retail spaces to educational sites, where your work directly impacts local communities.
At Holcim, you will be part of a supportive crew that takes immense pride in delivering top-tier results safely and efficiently. If you are looking for a stable, high-energy environment where your expertise is valued and your safety is the absolute priority, this is the place for you.
Depending on your specific expertise, your daily collaborative tasks will include:
Paver Operation: Safely and precisely operating the paving machinery to maintain a consistent line, level, and material flow.
Screed Management: Controlling the depth, width, and crown of the asphalt to ensure a flawless, defect-free finish.
Roller Operation: Executing precise patterns to achieve specified compaction and a smooth, high-quality surface.
Hand-Lay Artistry: Expertly handling hand-lay sections, tie-ins, and ironwork (manholes/gullies) for seamless transitions.
Site Guidance: Safely marshaling asphalt wagons and site plant as the vital eyes and ears in busy off-highway environments.
General Crew Contribution: Assisting with site preparation (sweeping, tack-coating, setting out) and keeping all tools and equipment in safe, peak working condition.
Who you are
Experienced: You bring a proven track record within a surfacing crew. Whether you are a specialist machine operator or a versatile groundworker, your "blacktop" knowledge is highly valued.
Qualified: You hold a mandatory Green or Blue CSCS Card. You also possess CPCS or NPORS tickets for specific plant (such as Paver, Roller, or Skid Steer), and having an NRSWA (Streetworks) qualification is a brilliant advantage.
Quality-Focused: You possess a keen eye for detail and a true commitment to "right first time" quality, aiming for zero defects in your workmanship.
Safety-Conscious: You are dedicated to look out for your own safety and that of your teammates, actively participating in safety conversations and reporting near-misses.
Reliable Team Member: You understand that the crew depends on every member showing up on time, and you bring a positive, collaborative, "can-do" attitude to work every single day.
We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
