The Opportunity
We’re launching a brand new sand and gravel quarry operation, expected to produce over 500,000 tonnes per year, supplying high-quality materials into major and exciting infrastructure projects. We’re now looking for an Assistant Quarry Manager to play a key role in shaping the success of this new site from day one.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a newly established quarry, working closely with the Quarry Manager to help build, develop and optimise operations from the outset.
You’ll be involved in everything from health & safety leadership and operational performance to team development and environmental compliance, giving you broad exposure and the chance to make a real impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting the Quarry Manager in the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the quarry
Be the appointed person on site responsible for production (8.1D)
Promoting and embedding a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring full compliance with legislation and company standards
Ensuring operations are carried out in line with planning permissions, environmental permits and quarry design plans
Monitoring and optimising production performance to meet output and customer demand targets
Supporting the management and development of site teams through coaching, training and performance management
Assisting in the planning and coordination of maintenance and plant utilisation to maximise efficiency
Leading or supporting incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented
Ensuring operations minimise environmental impact and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders
Supporting financial performance by contributing to budget control, cost management and reporting
Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure smooth operational delivery and continuous improvement
What You’ll Bring
Experience in a quarrying, aggregates or similar heavy industrial environment
Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, particularly within quarry operations
Knowledge of Quarry Regulations and environmental compliance requirements
Proven ability to lead or support teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take initiative and solve problems
Good organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively
Commercial awareness with an understanding of budgets and operational performance
A collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence
