The Opportunity

We’re launching a brand new sand and gravel quarry operation, expected to produce over 500,000 tonnes per year, supplying high-quality materials into major and exciting infrastructure projects. We’re now looking for an Assistant Quarry Manager to play a key role in shaping the success of this new site from day one.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a newly established quarry, working closely with the Quarry Manager to help build, develop and optimise operations from the outset.

You’ll be involved in everything from health & safety leadership and operational performance to team development and environmental compliance, giving you broad exposure and the chance to make a real impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the Quarry Manager in the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the quarry

• Be the appointed person on site responsible for production (8.1D)

• Promoting and embedding a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring full compliance with legislation and company standards

• Ensuring operations are carried out in line with planning permissions, environmental permits and quarry design plans

• Monitoring and optimising production performance to meet output and customer demand targets

• Supporting the management and development of site teams through coaching, training and performance management

• Assisting in the planning and coordination of maintenance and plant utilisation to maximise efficiency

• Leading or supporting incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented

• Ensuring operations minimise environmental impact and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders

• Supporting financial performance by contributing to budget control, cost management and reporting

• Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure smooth operational delivery and continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring

• Experience in a quarrying, aggregates or similar heavy industrial environment

• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, particularly within quarry operations

• Knowledge of Quarry Regulations and environmental compliance requirements

• Proven ability to lead or support teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills

• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take initiative and solve problems

• Good organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively

• Commercial awareness with an understanding of budgets and operational performance

• A collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence
