The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Category Manager – Energy, to join our Procurement team in a strategically important role. Managing a category with annual spend of approximately £170m, you will oversee the sourcing and management of key energy portfolios including electricity, gas and fuels, ensuring the business secures a reliable, cost-effective and sustainable supply. This is a permanent position, working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation and playing a visible role in quarterly risk reporting to the board.
This role offers the opportunity to influence how energy is sourced across a large operational footprint while also shaping future solutions. From supporting decisions on how new sites will be powered, to on-site renewable generation such as solar and wind, you will contribute directly to our ambition of making sustainable construction a reality.
What You'll Be Doing
Develop and deliver the category strategy for Energy & Facility Services, using spend analysis, market intelligence and supplier insight to support effective procurement decisions.
Manage end-to-end sourcing activities across energy portfolios including electricity, gas and fuels, ensuring robust governance, compliance and value optimisation.
Oversee hedging and risk management strategies for fuel, power, gas and bitumen portfolios, including preparing insights for quarterly risk updates to senior leadership and the board.
Explore and support initiatives that contribute to sustainability goals, including renewable energy solutions, PPAs and alternative fuels across operational sites.
Who you are
You are comfortable interpreting energy markets, commodity trends and risk profiles, and translating this insight into practical procurement strategies.
You build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders across functions and are confident presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
You are skilled at managing tenders, supplier negotiations and contract implementation, ensuring governance, compliance and clear documentation.
You enjoy working with data and analysis to support budget planning, cost control and long-term procurement planning.
We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
