The Opportunity
Holcim UK is excited to be launching its brand-new Tilbury Cement Grinding Station, and we’re looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the team working on a Monday to Friday shift with call out being based on a rota system. This is an incredible opportunity to be part of one of Holcim’s newest sites, where you’ll play a central role in maintaining and improving the mechanical systems that keep the plant running smoothly.
This role is ideal for an ambitious mechanical engineer or technician who wants to develop hands-on expertise in rotating machinery, bulk material handling, and process plant reliability, while contributing to a site that is setting new standards in performance and sustainability.
What You’ll Be Doing
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on key mechanical equipment, ensuring reliability and extending asset life.
Diagnosing and repairing faults on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, rotary equipment, and hydraulic systems.
Supporting alignment, balancing, and lubrication of rotating machinery to enhance efficiency.
Participating in condition monitoring, including vibration analysis, oil sampling, and thermal imaging.
Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities using SAP/CMMS systems.
Assisting with the upkeep of VRM (Vertical Roller Mill) systems, cement storage, and pneumatic conveying equipment.
Supporting major maintenance shutdowns, ensuring safe and efficient overhauls.
Ensuring full compliance with safety regulations including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, and LOTOTO.
Collaborating with production and process teams to optimise plant operations and reduce inefficiencies.
Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Who You Are
You’re a mechanically skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and has the drive to continually improve systems and processes. You’ll also be a team player who enjoys collaborating across departments to achieve results.
- Essential:
HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, bulk material handling, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Hands-on experience diagnosing faults and repairing rotating and industrial plant equipment.
Familiarity with alignment, balancing, and lubrication practices.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics.
Experience using SAP/CMMS systems.
- Desirable:
Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methods.
Experience in vibration analysis, thermography, or oil condition monitoring.
Certifications for mobile equipment such as forklift or MEWP operation.
