The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Submissions Manager to join our team at Bardon Hill, Leicestershire, our UK head office. In this permanent role, you’ll lead the development of high-quality, value-driven submissions for local authorities and national highways. Overseeing a small team, you’ll play a vital part in winning work. Not by focusing on price, but by showcasing the social impact, innovation, and quality we deliver.
You’ll work to strict deadlines, pulling together compelling evidence and statistics while turning technical information into clear, persuasive narratives that align with customer requirements. This is a chance to shape how we tell our story, influence outcomes, and make a real impact on communities through the projects we secure.
What you’ll be doing
Leading and coaching a team of Submissions Engineers to deliver winning bids.
Producing high-quality, compliant submissions that highlight value-add and social impact initiatives.
Managing the submissions process for local authority and national highways tenders.
Gathering and interpreting data, case studies and statistics to build evidence-based responses.
Proofreading and editing documents to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency.
Writing persuasive narratives that follow set council tender questions.
Coordinating inputs from subject matter experts and stakeholders across the business.
Managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Facilitating reviews, storyboarding sessions and knowledge sharing.
Driving continuous improvement in the quality and effectiveness of submissions.
Who you are
You’re an experienced bid or submissions professional who knows how to balance quality, compliance and creativity. You enjoy managing multiple priorities, working closely with stakeholders, and leading a small team to deliver results.
You’ll bring:
Proven experience managing tenders for highways or local authorities.
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives.
Experience leading or managing small teams, with a coaching style of leadership.
Excellent organisational skills, comfortable managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with subject matter experts.
The ability to translate technical information and data into persuasive, customer-focused submissions.
Flexibility to travel to sites and regional offices as required.
