The Opportunity

Looking for a hands-on engineering role where no two days are the same? This is your chance to join Moorcroft Quarry, one of the last remaining inner-city quarries in the UK, and play a key part in keeping our site running smoothly.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be right at the heart of our operations, keeping heavy equipment and plant in top condition so we can continue producing the materials that help build our towns and cities. It’s a role where your skills will make a direct impact, and you’ll be part of a close-knit team at a truly unique site.

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out planned maintenance and repairs to site equipment, ensuring everything is safe, reliable, and efficient.

• Responding quickly to breakdowns and getting plant back into production with both temporary fixes and long-term solutions.

• Supporting and mentoring operatives, sharing your knowledge to build team capability.

• Using your welding, cutting, and fabrication skills to solve problems and keep operations moving.

• Maintaining strong communication with the site team and ensuring all work is done safely, tidily, and to the highest standard.

What we’re looking for

• An experienced fitter with NVQ3 (or equivalent) in mechanical maintenance.

• Skilled in welding, cutting, and fabricating techniques.

• A great communicator with strong organisational skills and a team-first mindset.

• Flexible and proactive, ready to step in and tackle challenges as they arise.

• Health, safety, and environmental awareness at the core of how you work.
