Looking to power up your career in logistics and supply chain? This is a unique opportunity to lead operations at one of the UK’s most important aggregate sites, Torr Works Super Quarry, one of only three super quarries in the UK for Holcim UK.
As Rail Supply Chain Planning Manager, you’ll be based at our high-output Torr Work site in Somerset, where you’ll help distribute over 500,000 tonnes of material every month to the South East and South West via rail. This is an essential role that blends strategy with hands-on planning, keeping the supply chain flowing, reducing costs, and improving service to our customers every day.
If you're commercially savvy, process-minded, and ready to make a measurable impact, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead the rail order fulfillment process from customer order to loading, ensuring materials move efficiently, on time, and at the lowest cost.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to manage delivery performance, reduce shortfalls, and streamline processes.
Analyse and report on rail KPIs weekly and monthly, using data to drive decisions and improve customer experience.
Oversee the fulfilment of rail orders from Torr, ensuring quality of service and compliance with customer expectations.
Proactively support Sales vs Production (SvP) planning processes to balance demand and output across the region.
Improve communication and collaboration between departments including Commercial, Operations, Logistics, and External Hauliers.
Manage service performance of third-party logistics partners.
Support the Regional Supply Chain Planning Manager and Commercial Manager in demand forecasting, risk identification, and customer liaison.
Who You Are
An experienced supply chain, logistics, or rail planning professional, ideally with knowledge of the construction or manufacturing industry.
A strong communicator and collaborator with a high level of emotional intelligence—capable of engaging stakeholders across multiple teams.
Skilled in data analysis, performance reporting, and continuous process improvement.
Comfortable leading meetings, chairing discussions, and influencing change across functions.
Commercially aware with a passion for digital tools, optimisation, and delivering best-in-class customer service.
Previous experience with E1, Qlikview, and/or lean systems would be advantageous but not essential.
Why Torr Works?
It’s one of Holcim’s flagship super quarries—playing a critical role in supplying high-grade materials across the UK.
You’ll be managing huge volumes—up to half a million tonnes monthly—giving you experience few roles in the UK can match.
You’ll have a clear opportunity to make your mark in a high-profile, high-impact position.
We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
