The Opportunity
Join Holcim UK as an Industrial Electrician at Glensanda Quarry, the largest granite quarry in Europe. With over 200 million tonnes of granite exported, Glensanda plays a critical role in supplying the UK’s construction industry. You’ll be an essential part of the electrical maintenance team, ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the site’s plant and equipment. Attractive shift rotation with good time off between working weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PM) on a wide range of electrical equipment and systems
- Respond to electrical breakdowns, perform diagnostics, and restore functionality to minimize production downtime
- Install and commission new electrical equipment, supporting site upgrades and improvements
- Complete general electrical work across the site, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Accurately log work, order parts, and track tasks using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Support Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and fixed installation checks
- Work collaboratively within the electrical and wider maintenance teams, sharing knowledge and promoting continuous improvement
Development Opportunities:
- Opportunity to develop skills in control and automation systems, including PLCs and process control
- Participate in high voltage (HV) activities, including switching and permit control (training provided)
- Expand your experience in a large-scale, complex industrial environment with modern plant and equipment
- Training will be given to fill any gaps you may have.
What we’re looking for:
- Time-served electrician with NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance, City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in industrial electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and repair
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and maintenance best practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Awareness of safe working practices, including LOTOTO, Confined Space, and Work at Height
- Experience with automation systems or HV operations is desirable, but not essential
- This role requires flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and nights.
